Two accounts. One underscore apart.
There is @jeremy_garber, the original, where the garage years live and where Jeremy has not posted since 2024. And there is @jeremy__garber, two underscores, where everything since happens. The reason there are two is the reason there is a memoir.

The old account: @jeremy_garber
Opened in 2016 by a fifteen-year-old with a charcoal grill. Eight years of garage cooks, plywood signs, running selfies at 5 a.m., a shelter dog's first day home, and a tenth-grade brisket that, in Jeremy's words, "looked like a boot and tasted like one." It is the whole origin story in square photos. Jeremy did not take a single one down.
The last post is from the night of the cook-off: the trophy, the scoreboard, and a caption that said only "Challenger." It is pinned. It will stay pinned.
Why he left
In October 2024, the week Garbercoin launched and the week Scott's allowlist application was denied, Jeremy got a notification he had waited eight years for: scott.garber started following you. Scott had never followed the account. Not through the garage years, not through the sign, not through the dog, not through the cook-off. He followed the week he wanted something.
Jeremy did not block him. He did not post about it. He opened a new account that night with two underscores, moved his bio, and never posted on the old one again. "I left the first account up so Scott would have something to look at," he said on Sunday Table. "He can see every single thing he missed. He just can't see what's next."
The new account: @jeremy__garber
Everything since 2024. Ten restaurant openings. Boston. Six Days. The first foundation cook. The book cover reveal. Thirty-six hours at home and a kid who wanted ribs. If you only follow one, follow this one. It is the one he actually reads.
House rules
- No photos of Fabian, ever. The ones on his page and in the gallery were each approved by his mother. Instagram was not part of the deal.
- Boukzam appears whenever he wants to.
- Every marathon gets one post at mile 22, no matter what mile 22 looks like.
- Every opening gets the water bowl by the door before it gets the sign.
- Scott is never named. Readers of the memoir will understand why that is a kindness.
